Freeport, Bahamas

Lighthouse Pointe (Grand Lucayan)

We took a taxi from the port ($5/person as a ‘group rate’ each way) to Lucaya Marketplace, then crossed the street and walked to Lighthouse Pointe at Grand Lucayan and paid $20/adult and $10/child for Day Pass, which includes pool, beach, beach chairs, facilities, etc. Well worth it.

Port lucaya marketplace & Beach

If you’re looking to do some shopping, Port Lucaya Marketplace is for you. Similar to above, catch a taxi from the port  ($5/person as a ‘group rate’ each way) and they’ll drop you off right at Lucaya Marketplace. Don’t be afraid to bargain. You can walk to the beach from here, by going down Sea Horse Lane and going behind the Police Station, till you hit the beach.

Personal story: We met this local lady named Gloria and her son (pictured). I bargained with her for a bit and took a pic with them 🙂 On another cruise to Freeport, 7 years later, we stopped by to say hello! Found their shack store and son, but sadly Gloria wasn’t working that day.
